10:45am to 11:20am  Ferrython

An annual crowd favourite, Ferrython is one of Australia Day’s most popular and iconic events. From the harbour watch Sydney’s beloved Emerald Class ferries race through the waves in this hugely popular Australia Day tradition.

11:30am to 12:05pm Salute to Australia and Fast Jet Flyover

The Salute to Australia honours and celebrates the extraordinary contributions of many homegrown heroes, signalling hope and optimism as we unite on our national day. The ceremony honours new citizens and culminates in a fast jet flyover, 21-gun salute and tribute by a Navy Flagship.

12:15pm to 12:30pm  Navy Helicopter Flag Display

An Australia Day favourite will return in 2023, with a Royal Australian Navy helicopter to tow a giant Australian flag over the iconic Sydney Harbour and surrounds on our national day.  Spectators are encouraged to look to the skies to reflect on our nation’s past and celebrate the Australian spirit, mateship and sense of community

12:15pm to 12:30pm Maritime Mayhem

Due to popular demand, Maritime Mayhem is back for 2023.  Get ready for a high-voltage, action-packed display accompanied by fun commentary. Think stunts and tricks by jet-skis, a tug handling display and a combination of the two in an all-out exhibition of mayhem and manoeuvrability choreographed to a rockin’ soundtrack.

12:45pm to 2:00pm  Harbour Parade

You’re invited to send a spectacular Australia Day message to the city by being part of the Best Dressed Vessels. Boats of all shapes and sizes are encouraged to dress up their vessels in the most colourful and creative ways imaginable.

1.00pm to 1:30pm  Tall Ships Race

The Tall Ships Race will catch your attention as these majestic vessels part the deep blue of Sydney Harbour. The impressive fleet of historic and charter vessels will start their race from Bradley’s Head and finish under the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The race is a mesmerising event for the whole family to enjoy and a convoy of historic and charter vessels will follow the tall ships while spectators on recreational vessels enjoy an up-close experience.  Best vantage point: Bradleys Head to the Bridge on the northern side of the Harbour.

1.30pm to 4:00pm 186th Australia Day Regatta

The 187th Australia Day Regatta is the world’s oldest continuously run annual sailing event and steeped in maritime history. The Australia Day Regatta has been held every year since 1837 and celebrates Australia’s past and present. Sydney Harbour’s time-honoured harbour race boasts the largest starting fleet and coincides with the CYCA’s City of Sydney Sesquicentenary Ocean Race to Botany Bay and return.
